Clean Healthy Lashes Please
This article is for lash clients who may need more information on aftercare when getting lash extensions. Also click here to get printable to keep on hand.
Before anything, if you are experiencing any discomfort after your eyelash extensions please contact your lash tech to get them removed. You may be allergic to the adhesive.
In between your refill appointments it is normal to shed 2-3 lashes a day due to your natural lashes’ growth cycle.
First 24 HRS:
-NO contact with water on your lashes. Your new set of lashes or refill need 24 hours to fully cured.
First 2 Days:
-DO NOT wash your eyes or lashes with hot water or steam; avoid swimming, jacuzzi, or steam bath / sauna.
Thereafter:
-Avoid pulling or rubbing your eyes.
-Do not use eyelash curlers
-Use only oil free eye makeup remover.
-Use only mascaras that are safe for eyelash extensions, oil-based or waterproof mascaras. Only mascara I’ve used for my extensions is Thrive Causemetics . (I personally would stay away from mascara overall. It best not to use any at all to make your lashes last)
- When lashes become went DO NOT rub them, blot them with a towel/tissue/paper towel and let them air dry.
-I know it’s hard if you are a person like me who likes to sleep on her side but try to sleep on your back. Sleeping on your side or stomach can cause you to rub your lashes on your pillows.
Maintenance
Highly recommended to come every 2-3 weeks after first set to replace the lashes that have fallen out.
DO NOT remove lashes on your own. You can damage your natural lashes to the point they are brittle or completely gone. Have a lash tech take them off if needed.
Keep up with cleaning and brushing lashes daily to prevent build up of dirt and any risk of infection (Blepharitis) from lash mites living on lash line. They are normally harmless but you still want to prevent getting blepharitis.
If you feel like or your lash tech says you have Blepharitis please see an eye specialist immediately. After getting treated take a break from getting lash extensions.
How to Clean Lashes
Can use a lash shampoo along your lashes and gently massage them. Then rinse thoroughly and blot dry.
Disposable lip wands, soft makeup brush, or microbrush can be used to remove any makeup or debris.
You can brush your fingers upwards to dry lashes naturally or you can use the cool setting on your hair dryer.
Use your lash wands daily to comb through lashes to keep from tangling and to brush out any debris and oils.
